How to Assign Signer Groups

Written by Trisha Capusi

This feature is currently available for Business Pro plans and higher.

What are Signer Groups?

Signer Groups allow teams to assign a signing role to a reusable group instead of a single signer.

Instead of selecting one specific person, you can assign the signer slot to a Signer Group, allowing the first eligible member of the group to complete the signing role.

This helps:

  • Simplify team-based signing workflows

  • Reduce delays when a signer is unavailable

  • Reuse signer configurations across documents

  • Improve flexibility for shared responsibilities

  • Speed up document completion

Signer Groups are especially useful for departments, approval teams, operations groups, and shared inbox workflows.

How to Assign a Signer Group

  1. Prepare a new document or use an existing:

    • Document Template

    • Envelope Template

  2. Proceed to the Signers section.

  3. Choose the Signer Group

Once selected:

  • The signer role is assigned to the group

  • Eligible group members can complete the signing task

  • The first eligible member who signs completes the role

You can also view the members included in the selected Signer Group directly from the signer section.

How to Create a Signer Group

Before assigning a Signer Group, make sure the group has already been created in your account.
